Rest in Peace Pope Francis

Published: 24 Apr '25

“The world tells us to seek success, power and money; God tells us to seek humility, service and love.”

– Pope Francis

Many of you will have heard the very sad news that Pope Francis has died.

As a Catholic school community, we are taking time to reflect on his life, his leadership, and his message. Pope Francis was a man of great humility and compassion, who reminded us all of the importance of kindness, care for creation, and standing up for those in need. He often spoke about mercy, about walking alongside others, and about putting love into action — values that are at the heart of who we are as a school.

In assembly this week, we will be sharing his story with the children, giving thanks for his life, and offering prayers for his peaceful rest. We will also take a moment to reflect on what we can each do, in our own small way, to live out the values he taught so simply and powerfully.

“A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.”

– Pope Francis

Please do keep Pope Francis and the Church in your thoughts and prayers.
