Cultural Diversity Day

Published: 24 Sep '24

Each class took part in an activity, celebrating some of the many cultures from around the world. We really enjoyed reading your Home Learning based on your culture and heritage. There were lots of really informative presentations, posters and booklets and beautiful art pieces. It is amazing to see the effort you have gone to, and how proud you are of your cultural background, as you should be!

Reception made flags celebrating the the countries they are from.

Year 1 took part in Kurdish dance workshops and made pop up flags.

Year 2 linked Cultural Diversity Day to their art curriculum. They learnt how to make origami, and how it originated from Japan. They looked at the Japanese origami sculptor Akira Yoshizawa, known as the 'grandmaster of origami'. We practised various folding techniques then we made our own dogs and boats!

Year 3 continued their work on Russian artist Kandinsky and learnt how to make Tuscan Minestrone Stew with Irish Wholemeal Soda Bread at the Hackney School of Food.

Year 4 made presentations in class discussing their heritage and background.

Year 5 made and shared traditional food from the countries they were from, delicious!

Year 6 presented their Home Learning and discussed all their cultures and they learnt how to make Green Thai Curry at the Hackney School of Food.
