Morning drop-off

The school gates (Culford Road) are opened at 8:45am each morning for a 'soft-start'.  Teachers will have actitivties set-up in class for the children to engage in before the register is taken.  

The register is taken at 9:00am each day and children must be in class by this time.

Parents/carers must inform the office if there child is going to be late or absent.  You can do this by calling the school office of 0207 2547353 or by email to admin@olsj.hackney.sch.uk

Morning playtime

Morning playtime for the whole school is from 10:30-10:45am.  Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 have their playtime in the KS1 playground, and Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 have their playtime in the Key Stage Two playground.

Reception Class, Year One and Year Two are provided with a piece of fruit in the morning.  Children in Key Stage Two (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) are welcome to bring a fruit snack from home if they wish.

Lunch

Lunch is eaten in the main school hall.  Catering is provided by Wilson Jones and we have a wonderful head chef, Ms Florence, who provides the children with nutritious hot lunches each day.  The school lunch menu is shared with parents and available on the school wesbite.

Lunch service starts with Reception Class at 11:45am and finishes with Year 6 at around 12:45.

All children in are entitled to a free school lunch.  If you wish for your child to bring a packed lunch, please contact the school office.

Hometime

Hometime for Reception Class is 3:20pm, with the rest of the school being dismissed at 3:30pm.  Children are dismissed to parents/carers from their classroom.

When collecting your child at the end of the school day, everyone should enter through the front gate on Culford Road and exit through the Buckingham Road gate. This go-with-the-flow system helps to avoid congestion at the gates and ensures that children can be dismissed safely. Staff will be present at both gates to support with this.

Authorised collection

You must inform the school if someone different will be collecting your child. This can be done either by emailing or calling the school office, or by leaving a message with a member of staff at the school gate during morning drop-off.

Please note that staff will not release children to anyone who has not been authorised in advance.

Walking home alone

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 can walk home alone with parental consent. If you would like to give permission for your child to walk home alone, you must complete a permission slip.
