We celebrated World Porridge Day on Thursday 10th October. Everyone was invited to wear blue and donate £1 for Mary's Meals.
Following on from the workshops lead by Molly last month, the children explored ways in which porridge can be used as a filling meal and completed activities to mark this day.
Thank you for all of your donations towards Mary's Meals which will make a huge difference to feeding children who live in poverty.
See the pictures below for the fun activities that took place in school to celebrate World Porridge Day.
In Reception we celebrated World Porridge Day by reminding ourselves about Mary's Meals and how the money we have raised will help children like us all over the world who don't have access to important breakfasts every morning. To continue with our porridge theme we reenacted the famous story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears, starring Zah Zah as Goldilocks, Sebi as Baby Bear, Storm as Mummy Bear and Spider with an Oscar-worthy performance as Daddy Bear!

Making Flapjacks in Year 2
In year 3 this week we worked in groups to make flapjacks in celebration of Mary's Meals. We discussed the importance of helping those less fortunate than ourselves and the importance of being grateful. Year 3 had lots of fun with this and enjoyed eating their tasty flap jacks at the end of the day!
Year 3
Year 5 had a terrific time celebrating World Porridge Day! They worked in groups making the mixture of oats, butter, golden syrup and brown sugar. They measured out the amounts correctly and each had a turn doing a specific job (measuring, pouring, bringing the mixture together, etc). I think their favourite part was tasting their creations at the end of the day! What a great way to support a brilliant charity. Well done, Year 5!
Year 5
Year 6 celebrated World Porridge Day by making flapjacks in . We discussed the nutritional value of porridge oats and its role in providing nourishment to people in need, particularly children. World Porridge Day also supports charities and organisations working to combat hunger and malnutrition.
