World Afro Hair Day is celebrated every year on 15th September. On Monday 16th September, we celebrated World Afro Day and started the day with an assembly, celebrating different hair types and styles. We also spoke about Charlotte Mensah, a British hairdresser known for her expertise in Afro hair styling and care. She has won many awards for her contributions to the hairdressing industry and does lots of work to celebrate and promote Afro hair. Children shared what they liked about their own and their friends' hair. Ms Sylivia showed the children pictures of her own hairstyles in the 1990s!
A big thank you to our Chair of Governors, Mari-Anne Chiromo, who had a great morning in Reception, talking to the children about World Afro Day and showing them about braiding.
