Mary's Meals Workshops

Published: 23 Sep '24

Thank you to Molly from Mary's Meals who visited our school to do workshops from Reception to Year 6. She spoke to the children about the charity Mary's Melas and what they do.

The charity Mary’s Meals was founded by Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow OBE in 2002. It is a non-profit organisation that provides life-changing meals to some of the world’s poorest children every school day. Mary’s Meals is currently serving 2,429,182 children across 17 countries, in communities where hunger and poverty would prevent children from gaining an education.

Molly told the children that it cost 10p a day to feed a child and ÂŁ19.15 a year, that's the same as 6 McDonald's Happy Meals. We learned about World Porridge Day which we will celebrate on 10th October and the impact a good meal can have on children and their families.

Thank you Molly for visiting us today and look out for more information on how we will mark World Porridge Day next month.
