Week 6 (week commencing 08.02.2021)

Week 6 Timetables
Spellings

We are learning the Phase 5 sounds 'ie' as in tie and 'ea' as in tea.
Phonics

This week, we are focusing on the phase 5 sounds; 'ie' as in tie and 'ea' as in tea.

Children had learnt the trigraph 'igh' in phase 3 which makes the same sound as 'ie'.
They have also learnt the digraph 'ee' in phase 3 which makes the same sound as 'ea'.

Phase 5 often introduces new ways of spelling previously learnt sounds.

Please see the videos/ PowerPoints set for each day and the worksheets below.

This week in our RE topic 'Meals (The Eucharist)' we are looking at the story of The Last Supper.

Task 1

Cut and stick these pictures, putting them in the right order in the boxes numbered 1-6 on the next 2 pages.

Task 2
Write a sentence or two under each picture, describing what happened.

Task 3
Using the play dough mat provided, use play dough to make the wine and bread from the last supper and your own special meal.

Below is also a video to help you learn the story, but remember, our sequencing worksheet is based on the story from the PowerPoint, so make sure you read the PowerPoint carefully to help you complete the work.

Science (Wednesday and Thursday)

OLI: to take part in a food experiment.

This is our last week of Science before we move onto Geography after the Half Term Holiday.

This week (or in the Half Term Holiday if you find that more convenient) have a go at being a scientist, just like Ada Twist in this week's story.

I have included a document with ideas of different food experiments! Examples include making a soda geyser, your own soda pop, rock candy, baking and your own egg-periments! Even baking fairy cakes is an experiment – see how the batter changes!

Feel free to send me a picture of you as a scientist-in-action!

Just like Ada, try and think of your hypothesis (your prediction of what will happen) before you start and then test it out to see if you were right!
