Year 1 Advent/Christmas artwork

Christingle creations

During Advent and in pairs Year One made Christingles, adding the candle, sticks, fruit and red ribbon to the orange. We learnt the meaning of each of these parts; the orange is God’s world, the candle shows Jesus is our light, the fruit represents God’s creations, and the red ribbon represents Jesus’ blood. Great work Year One!

Jesus at Christmas Artwork

Using our fingers Year One painted the scene of baby Jesus being born in the stable.

“She brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7

The wise men Art

Using paint and making handprints, we made art representing the Wise Men following the star to meet the Messiah; baby Jesus.

The star went before them and stopped over the place where the child Jesus was. The wise men knelt down and worshiped Jesus. The opened their treasure and offered him gifts; Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Matthew 2:9-11

Christmas decorations

Using our handprints and photos, we made Christmas decorations. Our hands and the straw were the stable.  We named Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the North star. We learnt that like Jesus, we are important to God too.

“God says: You are precious to me. I love you. I know you. I know your name. I call you by your name. You are my child.” Isaiah 43 1:2
