St Blaise and Blessing of the Throats Liturgy 02/02/18

Tomorrow is the feats of St Blaise, who was a doctor as well as a bishop in Armenia during the fourth century.  It is believed that St Blaise once healed a boy who was choking on a fish bone.  Because of that, he is the patron of the sick, especially people with illnesses of the throat.  The blessing of the throats is a sign of our faith in God's protection and love and care for us and for all of the sick.
Dear Lord,
as we celebrate the feast of St Blaise,
we pray for God's protection from illness of the throat and other diseases.
We pray for freedom from colds and sore throats during the rest of the winter season.
