HACKNEY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2010

This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to share in the joy of performing alongside other young musicians within the borough. We are very lucky to have such a great Music Service which I am delighted to say has just been recognised as Outstanding! Over the years the service has been praised for providing the maximum benefits to young people in music making opportunities across our schools. I am very pleased to say that OLSJ will be taking part in all categories within the festival which is fantastic!

Opening the festival

Voces 8
VOCES8 has established itself as the foremost young British a cappella group performing repertoire ranging from early polyphony to unique jazz and popular arrangements. VOCES8 has entertained audiences across Europe, and has been praised for its stunning performance, exquisite singing and a sound that spans the entire range of vocal colour.

We are lucky to have been chosen as one of nine schools to take part in a vocal project. 17 enthusiastic singers from year 5  were chosen by myself to be a part of this workshop led project. Over the past few weeks 2 professional vocalists from the famous Voces8 have been leading singing sessions where the children have been learning new music every week. The final product will be a combined choir with many parts and harmonies working together which is a challenging but very rewarding sing!

This Event opens the hackney music festival and i am very proud to say we are a part of this.

I am also happy to announce that year 2 will be taking part in the infant singing event. Over the next month with the guidance of myself and the class teacher Miss Shaw we will be learning a number of delightful songs that we will perform together with other schools who are involved in the event.  This will be a great experience for the young singers of our school.

Junior Singing Event  - Thursday 15th July

As well as the Infant singing event we are delighted to have so many talented young singers in the juniors so we will also be having a large number of children take part in the Junior Singing event.
